THE ART MOMENTUM | INVESTEC CAPE TOWN ART FAIR 2020

For their 8th edition, the Investec Cape Town Art Fair (ICTAF), – under the umbrella of Fiera Milano Exhibitions Africa of the Fiera Milano group – conveys a new vision of the expected selection of galleries and artists at an Africa-based art fair. Inviting us to reflect on the notion of ‘African roots’, this year’s program gathers artists and art professionals from across the continent and beyond to stimulate the dialogue between northern and southern Africa, and proposes new and contrasting representations of what it means to be ‘from somewhere’.
In this series of exclusive articles, The Art Momentum proposes a number of possible answers to the universal question of belonging, examining the varied approaches by artists whose acute sense of awareness, engagement, and humanity bring insight to our beliefs or assumptions.

In this artpaper, uniquely conceived for the seventh iteration of the Investec Cape Town Art Fair (ICTAF), The Art Momentum takes a critical, conversational approach in examining the work of a few selected artists, whose approach is engaged with socio-political issues and urges us to reflect on ‘alternative visions’ of our world and futures.

THE ART MOMENTUM | AKAA PARIS 2018

AKAA 2018 prend place au terme d’une année durant laquelle les notions de frontières et de territoires ont été – plus que jamais – au cœur des discours politiques et questionnements sociétaux de par le monde. La troisième édition de la foire d’art contemporain parisienne interroge sur les notions de Nord, de Sud et plus particulièrement de « Sud Global » à travers une sélection d’artistes et une programmation culturelle mettant en exergue les relations entre ces différents territoires.

AKAA 2018 takes place at the end of a year in which notions of borders and territories have been, more than ever, at the heart of political discourse and societal issues worldwide. The third edition of the Parisian contemporary art fair explores the concepts of North, South and in particular the ‘Global South’ through a selection of artists and a cultural programme highlighting the relationships between these different territories.

Uniquely conceived for ART X Lagos 2018, this edition of the The Art Momentum highlights a collection of pieces that specifically address the diversity of approaches, origins, and techniques that make up the 3rd iteration of the fair. It also pays particular attention to artworks that seek to challenge and shift established conventions. Each article invites the reader to discover and assimilate contemporary art through the artists’ own words, and through original interpretations written by authors from across the world.

Spécialement conçue pour ART X Lagos 2018, cette édition de The Art Momentum met en valeur une sélection d’œuvres traduisant au mieux la diversité des démarches, des origines et des techniques présentées durant la foire.
